Arjuna
in stock
From: $50.00
In the Bhagavad Gita, the epic of Arjuna is told. Over 700 verses describe the dialogue between warrior and Krishna – though the tale is ultimately the dialogue between a man at war with himself.
I identified a lot with this tale. For most of my life, I’ve been aware that my biggest enemy is myself.
I tried to capture this idea of inner conflict in this piece, with Arjuna shown in the center of the painting, holding his bow.
He raises his bow against a large dark figure. However, this figure is little more than his own shadow, appearing to rise up against him.
The various types of yoga are displayed in this piece, including:
Karma Yoga – the path of selfless action
Bhakti Yoga – the path of devotion
Jnana Yoga – the path of self-transcending knowledge
